Introducing Cueline: Workflow Automation Built for Nigerian Enterprises

Three years ago, I was sitting in a conference room at a Lagos professional services firm watching their operations manager try to track client deliverables across four WhatsApp groups, two shared Google Sheets, and a printed calendar pinned to the wall. Nothing was falling through the gaps — because she was personally catching everything. She was brilliant. And completely unsustainable.

That meeting was the seed for Cueline.

What Cueline Is

Cueline is an AI-enhanced workflow and collaboration platform built specifically for Nigerian enterprises that have outgrown ad-hoc tools but aren’t ready — or willing — to pay dollar prices for software that doesn’t quite fit anyway.

At its core, Cueline does three things:

  1. Structured task and project management — with proper assignment, deadlines, dependencies, and priority queuing
  2. Document workflow automation — multi-stage approval flows with digital signatures and audit trails
  3. Real-time team collaboration — live updates, threaded comments, and instant notifications that actually deliver

Why We Built It Ourselves

We could have built the operations manager’s firm a workflow on top of an existing SaaS product. We’ve done that for clients. The problem is always the same: the workflow tools designed for Western knowledge workers assume things that aren’t true in Lagos.

They assume reliable broadband. They assume dollar billing (painful for NGN-denominated businesses). And they assume support teams available in GMT-1 to GMT+2 time zones.

Cueline assumes none of those things. It’s optimised for Nigerian bandwidth, priced in NGN, and supported by us — based in Lagos, available on WhatsApp.

The AI Piece

I want to be honest about this: Cueline does not use AI as a marketing word. It uses AI in specific, narrow, high-value places where a rules engine would be worse.

The main one is task routing. When a new request comes in, Cueline looks at the type of request, the workload of available team members, the historical turnaround time of each person for similar requests, and the urgency level — and routes it automatically. This is the kind of thing that takes a senior manager’s gut feel and makes it systematic.

We also use AI for document summarisation — long approval documents get a three-paragraph summary so approvers can decide quickly without reading 40 pages.

Everything else is deterministic rules. Audit logs, permission checks, notification triggers — those are not AI problems. Treating them as AI problems would make them worse.

What’s Next

Cueline is live and serving customers. The next six months are focused on:

  • A public API so customers can integrate Cueline with their existing systems (accounting, HR, ERP)
  • Enhanced analytics — team performance dashboards that managers can actually interpret
  • Mobile apps (React Native) for iOS and Android

If you’re running an enterprise team in Nigeria and you’re tired of WhatsApp group chaos, I’d love to show you Cueline. Reach out directly at hello@alcingsstudio.com.
